SHAINA (she/THEY)

As a psychotherapist, I am committed to creating a warm, compassionate, and inclusive space where individuals feel heard, understood, and supported. Each person's story is unique, and I strive to build a therapeutic relationship grounded in empathy, curiosity, and respect.

I am particularly interested in working with those navigating anxiety, depression, identity exploration, family and relationship challenges, and the unique experiences of neurodivergent individuals. I recognize that life transitions, personal struggles, and societal expectations can impact our sense of self, and I aim to help clients develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and confidence.

I am also passionate about working with people from diverse family structures and value affirming all forms of family and relationships, including queer families, single-parent families, blended families, chosen families, and other alternative family systems.

My approach to therapy is person-centred, meaning I tailor the therapeutic process to each client's individual needs, strengths, and goals. I integrate Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices to support clients in understanding their experiences, challenging unhelpful patterns, and developing practical tools for lasting change.

I am a practicum student in the Master of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. My career began supporting individuals with disabilities and their families in the field of Behaviour Science before transitioning to education and finally to psychotherapy.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy reading, writing, painting, and gardening. My children and I share a deep love of animals, and together, we have the joy and privilege of caring for pets in our community.
