QUEER-AFFIRMING THERAPY
Charlotte Pidgeon Psychotherapy specializes in providing queer‑affirming therapy for members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Our work is grounded in the understanding that queer, trans, non‑binary, and gender‑diverse people often encounter unique stressors, both within mental health systems and in the broader world, that require care which is informed, intentional, and affirming.
Queer‑affirming therapy goes beyond acceptance. It actively recognizes the impact of heteronormativity, cisnormativity, racism, ableism, fatphobia, colonialism, and other systems of oppression on mental health and relationships. Many queer people have experienced being misunderstood, pathologized, or asked to educate their therapist. We believe therapy should never replicate those harms.
Our therapists bring deep lived and professional understanding to concerns such as:
Gender identity exploration and transition‑related care
Sexual orientation, coming out, and identity integration
Relationship structures, including non‑monogamy and chosen family
Kink, sexuality, and desire without shame or judgment
Minority stress, internalized oppression, and complex trauma
Navigating family, cultural, religious, or societal rejection
We offer an anti‑oppressive, judgment‑free, and explicitly gender‑affirming space for individuals, youth, and couples. All of our therapists are queer‑identifying or allied, and kink‑ and poly‑affirming, and we work from the belief that your identities, relationships, and ways of being are not problems to be fixed, but sources of resilience, meaning, and connection.
Our goal is to support you in feeling safer in your body, clearer in your relationships, and more grounded in who you are, while honouring the full complexity of your lived experience.
