KIKI (THEY/THEM)
Hi! I am a queer, neurodivergent, genderqueer student therapist who is a parent to a beautiful human and an adorably scruffy dog. My background is in the arts as both a professional dance/theatre performer and potter. I exited “the closet” later in life and am passionate about the wellbeing of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, identity, and big and small life transitions. As someone who has always been a loving ear for the experiences of others, I am grateful for this chapter of offering my learnings and lived experience to my community and beyond as a therapist.
My approach is curious, compassionate, person-centered, and incorporates the arts, somatics, and mindfulness through an anti oppressive lens. I am committed to the life long learning and unlearning required to be culturally sensitive as a white settler and grow myself as a skilled therapist.
Currently I am a student at The Create Institute studying Expressive Art Therapy (ExAT). ExAT is a person-centered, relational and experiential arts-based approach to psychotherapy that engages the client through a process of creative discovery as a way to reconnect with inner resources. Clients may explore issues through: visual art, writing, drama, music, movement as catalysts for personal inquiry, new perspectives and growth. I work with your therapeutic goals at a pace that feels right to you with deep and compassionate attention.
In my practicum work so far I've been privileged to work with street involved folks, trans youth, frontline workers, folks in hospice and their caregivers. I welcome people from all backgrounds and have a particular interest in queer folks, folks navigating transitions, caregivers, identity exploration, trauma, shame, and sexuality/kink.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing softball, singing in my queer choir, and being creative.
Healing is a brave and hopeful journey and I have a deep respect for anyone who chooses to try to create meaningful change for themselves and by extension their relations. It would be an honor to work together to build a life raft to help you on your journey in this life.
