ELLA (SHE/HER)
Hi, I’m Ella. I bring the ability to listen deeply and without judgment, a steady and compassionate presence, and genuine care for my clients to my practice. My approach is person-centred and integrates elements of existential therapy, family systems theory, bibliotherapy, and mindful self-compassion.
Our queerness makes our experience in the world unique. I’m interested in how our sexual and gender identities bring colour and vibrancy to the many other roles we play in this world, and the many intersections between them. If you are grappling with your identity, with life transitions, with relationships of all kinds, with depression/anxiety, with emotional wounds and shame — let’s talk about it.
I’m also interested in working with individuals and couples navigating fertility and family creation, and new parents facing the challenges of caring for babies and young children. Everyone's path to family creation is unique, but my personal experience navigating this overwhelmingly heteronormative space has given me insight into how strange and isolating — and yes, joyful and life-affirming — it can be. If you need support in this transitional journey, I would be honoured to travel along with you.
Some stuff about me: I’m a practicum student in the Masters of Counselling Psychology program at Yorkville University. I began my career directing TV commercials, but I decided to transition into the helping profession in my mid 30s. I finally feel like I’m doing what I was meant to do.
I love reading and collecting books, especially ones by queer authors. I’m also passionate about films and documentaries. Thanks to my kids, I’ve rediscovered the joys of arts and crafts; I love sculpting with playdough, playing with watercolours, and making friendship bracelets.
