MARRIELLE (SHE/HER)

Hello, hey, hi ! I respect the courage it takes to start here because that first step toward support can feel overwhelming. I believe one of the hardest things for many people is expressing how they truly feel. In a world that can often feel judgmental, it may feel like it’s easier to suppress emotions and suffer in silence. My goal is to meet you exactly where you are, in a safe, affirming, judgement free zone. We can explore your thoughts, feelings, challenges, and lived experiences with honesty, care and humour because honestly - laughter REALLY can help during challenging times. We will work collaboratively to identify your strengths, clarify your goals, and navigate the paths toward healing, growth, and self-understanding at a pace that feels right for you. Recognizing and building upon your strengths is important for me to support with you because these can often become overshadowed by difficult emotions. As a woman of colour, I bring my own complex identity, a culturally responsive, anti-oppressive, empathetic, and inclusive lens to my work. I am proudly LGBTQ+ allied, open-minded, and deeply committed to providing care that honours your identity, values, and unique story.

My primary therapeutic approach is person-centred, and a strong focus on your unique, subjective experience—you are the expert in your own life and I’m here as support. Building a strong therapeutic alliance is central to my work; I believe meaningful change happens within a relationship grounded in trust, collaboration, and safety. I am also informed by psychodynamic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy, and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT). Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we will work together to determine what best suits your needs, possibly integrating techniques from different approaches to support you as best we can. Some of my areas of focus include anxiety, depression, body image, self esteem, life transitions, mood management, obsessive compulsive disorder, coping skills, sexuality support, relationship wellness, stress and more.

I hold an Honours Bachelor of Health Studies from York University and am currently completing my Master’s program at Yorkville University, qualifying as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).

A little about me - I love to spend time with my family and friends, try new restaurants to eat, take naps, eat, watch reality tv and then eat some more (LOL) !
